North Texas Odufuwa's TSU

North Texas (9-2) went out of conference to face Southland Conference member Texas State (2-7). The two teams faced each other Nov. 29th in San Marcos with North Texas forced to make a comeback to win a close game 81-77. UNT Yeatts

This game was different. The 2,362 fans at the Super Pit knew from the beginning North Texas was in control of the game. North Texas held the lead from the beginning. The two teams never tied and TSU never had a lead. At halftime they held a 40-25 lead then outscored the Bobcats 45-37 in the second half to hand the guests an 85-62 loss. According to the TSU official site, North Texas now holds a 58-29 all time series lead.

The win was the result of the great play of George Odufuwa who had twenty points, tying a career high and eight rebounds earning him the games MVP. Josh White poured in 18 points. North Texas recorded 28 points in the paint limiting TSU to just 18 and the bench added 31 points to TSU's 22. North Texas out-rebounded Texas State 40-30.

Dominique Johnson went 2-3 on three-point attempts. White was 2 for 5, Jacob Holmen was 2 for 4, Shannon Shorter was one for three and Tristan Thompson missed on both his attempts.

The team shot 53.6% for the game and held the Bobcats to 41.2% from the floor.

This is the 79th time North Texas recorded a win when they hit the 80 point mark.

North Texas will travel to Baton Rouge to take on LSU, 7 PM, Weds., DEC. 22nd while Texas State travels to Cancun, Mexico to face Ole Miss in the opening round of the ESPN’s Cancun Governor’s Cup from Dec. 22-24.
