Early Bowl Projects, Two or Three Sun Belt Teams?

The early guesstimations for the upcoming bowl seasons are beginning to come out. Sports Illustrated just came out with theirs. They seem to think the Sun Belt will get three teams into bowls because there may not be enough teams qualified from certain conferences to fill their slots. Here are here are their proSun Belt Conferencejections.

For the Sun Belt Conference Championship slot in the Dec. 18th New Orleans Bowl they think it will be Florida International going against C-USA's UTEP.

The Little Caesars Bowl held in Detroit, Dec 26, formerly the Motor City Bowl, will see the University of Louisiana-Monroe going against the MAC #1 Northern Illinois. ULM is getting the nod because there may not be enough Big Ten teams bowl eligible. Normally the tie-in is the Big Ten #8.

On Jan. 6th they predict Temple, the MAC #2, will face the Sun Belt #2, Troy, in the GoDaddy.com Bowl, Mobile, Alabama. This is the former Mobile Bowl.

USA Today thinks only two Sun Belt teams will get a bowl bid. They believe like Sports Illustrated, Florida International will be the conference champion but they will face CUSA's SMU in the New Orleans Bowl.

They also believe Troy will play Temple in the GoDaddy Bowl.

Stay tuned the projections will change after this weeks football action.
