Although not North Texas related, Athletic Director Rick Villarreal, Special Teams Coach Shelton Gandy, Strength Coach Chris Seroka, Associate Director Paul Batchelder, others on the staff and some season ticket holders are graduates from Southern Miss.

Apparently the three players, Defensive End Deddrick Jones and two Linebackers Tim Green and Martez Smith were shot around 1:30AM outside Remington's Hunt Club. Southern Miss had just knocked off #25 Central Florida.

Apparently the fight started inside the club and then spilled outside where the players were shot. Early reports state it could be gang-related but no one is officially making a comment.  The bar and grill can have up to 1,000 patrons and up to 20 security people in place.
