Would Boley's Former Coach Interested in North Texas?
As Cowboy fans watched as Tony Romo went down with an injury because of New York Giants Michael Boley and as they watched the as backup Jon Kitna kept having problems the problems with Boley, North Texas fans should like what they see in Boley.
While Rick Villarreal is considering a
new head coach, he might be smiling about the play of Boley and
hoping he might be able to steer Boley's former college coach to take
over the reigns of the North Texas program.
Boley is one of about a dozen defensive players that have made it to the NFL because former Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower believed to win games you need to have a strong defense. He plays the type of defense Southern Miss was noted for during Bower's tenure.
Playing for the Tennessee Titans is Gerald McRath at linebacker.
At the corner for Baltimore Ravens is Lardarius Webb. Webb is listed as a graduate from Nicholls and he is but before he ended up there he was recruited to Southern Miss by Bower. Webb was not offered from any major 1-A program at the time, yet Bower saw something in him. He was dismissed from the Southern Miss because of team rules. At Nicholls he set a couple of records.
There are about six or seven former Southern Miss players still in the NFL.
At Southern Miss, Bower built a program with a stadium like Fouts Field. What could he do with the facilities North Texas now has.
Several times his teams were in the top ten of NCAA graduation rates.
While there are several great coaches out there, only one has the success of Bower. He would be the best choice to take over and build a winning program at North Texas.
