Williams to Stay at Texas

Rumors about former Duncanville Basketball star and now Texas Longhorn Guard/Forward Shawn Williams, 6-6, 225,courtesy Scout.com have erupted in Duncanville about his possible transfer from UT to another program. North Texas was mentioned as one of the schools he was considering.

A source close to Williams stated “that is not true.” Seems the rumor started because Williams was frustrated about his injury and playing time as a Longhorn. He had thought about transferring but after some talk and deliberation about the situation Williams “has decided to stay right where he is.”

“He got his medical redshirt” back in May because of the injury to his left ankle he sustained in a game back on Dec 20th, 2009 against Texas State which required arthroscopic surgery. He played seven games during the 2009-2010 season where he averaged a little over five minutes and scoring 1.6 points a game. A medical redshirt can be given to a player if he plays in less then 30% of the school’s games.

He will be considered a freshman when the season begins.
