Cajuns Respect North Texas Running Game
University of Louisiana-Lafayette Linebacker Coach Tim Rebow said the Cajuns were not really into the practice the early part of the week after the heartbreaking loss to Middle Tennessee State University. However, they seemed to have shaken it off during the middle
of the week and are now playing with more enthusiasm and looking forward to playing at North Texas this Saturday evening, 6 P.M at Fouts Field.
He is concerned because his unit is “not playing to the best of our ability.” While they play hard there have been “some busts at key times.”
Rebowe was excited the preseason Lombardi Watch list nominee middle linebacker Grant Fleming will be back for the North Texas game. During the first game of the season, a loss at Georgia, he broke his hand. Although the hand is broken that is not what is causing him problems. “His fingers are wrapped in tape” and the “fingers that stick out are what causes him problems.”
As for North Texas he stated they are “a good football team.” Some of the players have been together for years and know the system.
He feels Lance Dunbar is the best running back the Cajuns have faced so far. Rebowe said you can’t take any play off when Dunbar is in the game. You could stop him and then stop him and if you take a play off he will hit the hole and burn you for yardage. The Cajuns are planning to put as many “hats on him” as they can because they do not want him to get any yardage.
Rebowe does not put the whole North Texas running game on Dunbar’s shoulder because he referred to James Hamilton when he said they “have two guys that can really do it.”
He was impressed with the film he saw on North Texas’ game against Florida Atlantic. “They were physically defensive and it showed up in the film.”
