While some camps are the same each year North Texas decided to add some new wrinkles this year. There was a "change this year in the age grouping" which allowed "five on five matches on the courts." Players were rotated in
from the bench which allowed more individual instruction to the players coming off the court. In addition, it gave the campers a better feeling of the game and to put into action what they learned at the camp. It also allowed the coaches to evaluate the campers to see if what they learned translated to
the court.
The camp teaches the players the basic fundamentals of basketball in order to improve their game. Campers worked on shooting, ballhandling, rebounding, defense, offense, footwork and other basketball skills. It makes them a better player for next season and in the future. Most of the better basketball players coming out of high school and going onto college went to camps like the one at North Texas.
