Season Ticket Renewal a Success
The North Texas Football season ticket renewal campaign is over and according to Gabe Kirkpatrick, Director of Ticket Operations, renewal orders are up. The exact amount is not known at this time because “we will run the totals this evening.”
Kirkpatrick stated one reason for the increase in ticket sales is a result of the new stadium being built. “People are excited about the future.” Another reason for the excitement is the home schedule “we open up with Rice and end up with K-State.”
All home games are on Saturday and starting times have not been announced at this time. Rice opens the home slate Sept 11th then hit the road for two games. They return home for three home games in row, all conference games in October. The first is Oct. 2nd with Louisiana-Lafayette, Oct 9th against Arkansas State and Oct 16 against Florida International. After one away game, North Texas returns home Nov 6th against Sunbelt opponent Troy. After two games on the road they return home Nov 24th for the Fouts Field Finale against present Big 12 opponent Kansas State.
There is a lot of optimism around the North Texas football program which can be reflected in season ticket sales. In the past, when football season ticket renewals were up, new season tickets sales generally increased. With that in mind orders for new season tickets holders are expected to increase too.
A lot of the renewals and new ticket holders are getting on board to make sure they have first choice of seats when the new stadium is completed. Season ticket holders will get first pick of the new seats when they go on sale.
With the renewal campaign over, the next phase of selling tickets is to work on new season ticket holders. Kirkpatrick explained the are going to do some “different things this year.” The staff will be contacting previous season ticket holders to get them up to date about the new stadium. They are working a plan to contact alumni to let them know about the new construction going on. Some alumni who do not live or work in the Denton area may not know about the new stadium. While the phrase ‘if you build it, they will come’ is widely known, Kirkpatrick said “you have to let them know you are building it.”
The new stadium is beginning to do what it was suppose to do. It is building excitement around the program. As more fans become aware of the stadium, more fans are purchasing season tickets. An added benefit has been recruiting. Almost every recruit in the 2010 signing class mentioned the stadium as part of their decision to play for North Texas. Recruits considering North Texas for next year’s class are mentioning the stadium too.
Basketball season ticket renewal date has not been officially announced but when they go on sale Kirkpatrick feels there will be an increase in season ticket sales. He pointed out the team’s recent success as the primary factor for the projected increase in ticket sales.
