North Texas/ Army game on national television

Next year’s television football is out and according to the lsufootball.net website only one North Texas football game will be broadcast nationally.

The Saturday, SeptembeArmy Football Clubr 18th game against Army will be broadcast on CBSC (HD) beginning at 11 A.M. This does not mean other games during the season may not be picked up for broadcast.

The Black Knights play on the artificial turf at Michie Stadium which was built in 1923 and currently has a capacity of 39,939. According to Sports Illustrated it is the #3 sports venues in the world. "It's a scene straight from The Long Gray Line, surpassed only by the view of the Hudson River from the west stands at Michie Stadium. The Corps of Cadets, seated together and dressed in gray and black, evokes memories of when Army was one of the most formidable of college football powers.”

With the exception of playing in Conference-USA, 1998-2004, they have played football as an Independent.

The Black Knights have played North Texas three times and hold a 3-0 win record.

Army is coached by second year Head Coach Rich Ellerson who sports a 5-7 record including a 17-13 win over North Texas last year in Denton, Texas. The crowd of 23,647 fans was the fifth largest in Fouts Field history and the largest crowd of last season.

In the game, during the forth quarter, Lance Dunbar gave North Texas a 13-10 lead on a 68 yard touchdown run with 7:11 left in the game, the point after attempt was missed. Army scored and North Texas was unable to put anymore points on the scoreboard. Army blocked a field goal attempt and preserved the win with an interception with 1:43 left in the game.

North Texas was able to move the ball but could not put points on the scoreboard. They had 447 total yards of offense to Army’s 287.
