North Texas scouting Pearl River Junior College

North Texas Head Football Coach Todd Dodge and his staff are looking over their projected needs for next year and putting together a list of the players they plan to keep an eye on, the ones to recruit and the ones they plan to offer.

It looks like they are looking at three to five players from Pearl River Junior College, (PRCC) Popularville, Ms.

While we have not been given any definitive information, a source close to their program state North Texas Running Backs Coach Shelton Gandy, who recruits the Mississippi area for North Texas, has expressed interest in three to five players.

The three to five prospects are sophomores and are Football Championship Subdivision type players. While there have been inquiries about the players, it appears there has not been conformation from North Texas about which of the players they may recruit. So the names were not released to Eagletalk.net

The PRCC program is one of the best in the nation. They won the National Championship in 2004, going 12-0 and were in the championship game in 2006. They compete for the state title almost every year.

In his ninth year at the helm of the program is Tim Hatten who has compiled a 67-16 record. When he took over the program it had not won the state title since the 1976 season. Since he took over the program they have won the National Championship and four MACJC state titles in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. During the schools history they have won 19 state titles.

N.E. Texas fans had the opportunity to see one of his teams play back in 2006 when they played for the National Championship in the Pilgrim’s Pride Bowl in Mt. Pleasant, Texas against Blinn College. Pearl River lost 19-6 and ended the season the #4 ranked team in the nation.
