Rangel and Lopez on Dodge's radar

North Texas Head Coach Todd Dodge has his staff are out scouting schools for future prospects. They have been looking over a couple of prospects from Odessa High School. Both are now sophomores and will be juniors next year.

One player is Dejion Rangel, LB/DE, 6-1, 190, 4.5. He is playing defensive end but Odessa Head Coach Ron King said he could play linebacker. He “wreaks havoc on opposing offenses” and is used in a variety of ways. “He is our best pass rusher” when they use the 3-4 defense.

Dodge is apparently interested in Andrew Lopez, OL/DL, 6-4, 280, for an offensive tackle position. What makes him such a good prospect is “he has great feet,” and can block at the line of scrimmage.

Both players are underclassmen and still need more work to do to become effective football players. However, they have a couple of years at the high school level to improve their skills. This will give the North Texas coaches the time they need to see how they improve before giving them an offer.
