Robertson leads defense

As pointed out and what everyone knows is the North Texas team defense has its problem. However, there were several individual players from theRick Yeatts Eagle defense who are ranked in NCAA stats this past season.

When looking at the NCAA stats one thing that sticks out, the teams that seem to have the best defenses have multiple players on the list with individual or team tackles. North Texas has one. Junior LB Craig Robertson holds down the #36 spot in total tackles with 59 solo tackles and 48 assisted tackles for a total of 107 tackles or 8.92 tackles per game.  The 59 solo tackles put him at #38 in the category and averages 4.92 solo tackles per game.

There was no North Texas player ranked in the category tackles for a loss, none in pass sacks and none in pass defended.

When it comes to interceptions, Junior DB Royce Hill holds down the #96 spot with three interceptions returning them for a total of 58 yards with no touchdowns. His three interceptions come out to .25 interceptions per game.

Forced fumbles find Senior DE Sam Owusu-Hemeng coming in at tied at #97 with several players. In his six games played he forced two fumbles or .20 fumbles per game.

North Texas had two players, with several players from other teams, tied at #61 in the category of recovered fumbles. Both Junior DB DaWaylon Cook and Senior DT Savod Atkinson had two recovers on the season. It averages out to .17 recoveries per game. Cook did return his recoveries for a total of 31 yards while Atkinson had no yards on his recoveries.
