Softball takes on #14 Texas

T.J. Hubbard’s Green Crew will be starting a seven game homestand beginning this Tuesday, March 16 at 2 P.M. when #14 Texas, 20-3, comes to Denton.  So far this season the Mean Green Softball Team is 9-9, 2-1.

Texas will be visiting Denton after an exciting 3-2, tenth inning win over the University of Texas-Arlington (UTA), at Arlington, last Thursday, March 11.

UNT comes into the game after winning the series with the University of Louisiana-Monroe at Monroe. The Mean Green won the first game 7-6, dropped the second game 0-8 before coming back to take a 3-2 win on Sunday.

This will be a great game to gage how far the softball team has come under the leadership of Hubbard.  Since taking over the helm, the team has improved each year, not only in the win/loss category but also setting new team and individual records. To play a team like nationally ranked Texas, will tell North Texas what areas they need to improve in order to compete at the national level like the Longhorns.

North Texas will have a two game series this weekend against South Alabama.  Saturday’s first pitch is slated for 2 P.M. and Sunday’s action starts at 12 P.M.

Next Wednesday, the Mean Green will host UTA at 6 P.M. They will be in action the next day when they play against the University of Texas-San Antonio at 6 P.M.

The final homestand will see two games against Florida Atlantic. On Saturday, March 27th game time is 2 P.M. and Sunday action begins at Noon.

They will then take a three game road trip before returning home.
