I didn't lose confidence, White

When it comes to crunch time, North Texas depends on Josh White. It was much the same in the Sunbelt Championship Game. The difference in this game was White was not doing well in the first half.  It seemed nothing he put up would go in.

After the game, White was asked about his lack of scoring in the first half versus the second half.

“My teammates kept telling to keep shooting” White stated. After the game Tristan Thompson confirmed this when he said he talked to White at halftime and told him “the shots not going in the first half will fall inthe second half.”

With the support of his teammates, White added “I didn’t lose confidence in myself” so he kept taking his shots and they started to fall.

As for his clutch shot near the end of the game to extend the North Texas lead, White stated Troy was blocking the inside shots and clogging up the middle. When he drove into the lane, he felt the defender thought he was going to go to the basket for a layup so he decided to stop short and “make the jump shot.” When he did, he had clear vision of the basket and rung up the two points. That shot seemed to deflate Troy and to pump up North Texas and the Mean Green Fans in the stands. It was everyone knew, North Texas had just punched their ticket to the Big Dance.
